Our Pledge to Sustainability

Here at Nook, we strive to have as small an environmental footprint as possible and are constantly looking for ways to improve. We believe that all businesses and individuals have the responsibility to do their best to leave the planet better than we found it. This is why we have built sustainable practices into the very fabric of how Nook operates since the very beginning.

Responsible Packaging

All of our packaging is recyclable, compostable or reusable.

We package our meals in compostable, 99% plant-based containers from an amazing Canadian company, Good Natured.
The plant-based materials Good Natured uses are all from within North America, and 35% of the packaging we use is made from post-industrial recycled content. The containers are 100% free of BPAs and other harmful chemicals AND reduce CO2 emissions by up to 77% compared to regular petroleum based plastics. If you do not have composting facilities in your area, our Good Natured containers are also recyclable!
We are very happy to be partnered with Good Natured to be able to offer our meals in the cleanest way possible.

Our juice and sauces are bottled in glass, making them both reusable and recyclable. Our bottle return program helps us to create a closed-loop system where we can wash and reuse our glassware an infinite number of times with no waste. To learn more about our bottle return program, visit our FAQ.

Reducing Food Waste

A large part of shifting to a preorder meal delivery service was because we were looking to reduce our food waste. Because the majority of our orders are placed in advance we are able to minimize the food waste produced in our kitchen, allowing us to source and prepare ingredients only when they are needed. Any food waste we have is picked up by a local organic farmer who feeds it to his live stock!

We are always looking for new and creative ways to improve and reduce our impact. Drop us a line at hello@eatnook.ca if you have ideas or questions about Nook's sustainability.
